API 6D: Specification for Pipeline and Piping Valves
API 6D specification defines the requirements for the design, manufacturing, assembly, testing, and documentation of ball valves, check valves, gate valves, and plug valves for application in pipeline and piping systems for the petroleum and natural gas industries.
This specification is not applicable to subsea pipeline valves, as they are covered by a separate specification, API 6DSS.
API 6D is applicable to valves for the following pressure ratings only: Class 150, Class 300, Class 400, Class 600, Class 900, Class 1500, and Class 2500.
