BS 2995: SPECIFICATION FOR CAST AND FORGED STEEL WEDGE GATE, GLOBE, CHECK AND PLUG VALVES

SCREWED AND SOCKET-WELDING, SIZES 2 IN AND SMALLER FOR THE PETROLEUM INDUSTRY

BS 2995 Standard specifies requirements for cast and forged carbon and alloy steel screwed and socket- welding valves for the petroleum industry in sizes 2 in andsmaller.

Screwed valves specified in this standard are intended for assembly with pipe threaded in accordance with API Std. 5B*.

Socket-welding valves specified in this standard are intended for assembly with plain-end pipe in accordance with API Std. 5Lt and B.S. 1600.

This standard provides for:

Wedge gate valves. Outside-screw-and-yoke, rising

Class 1500. Sizes: 1/4, 3/4 , 1, 1-1/2 in.

Globe valves (straight pattern). Outside-screw-and-yoke, rising stem, bolted bonnet and bolted gland

Class 800. Sizes :1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 3/4 , 1, 1-1/2, 2 in

Class 1500. Sizes: 1/2, 3/4 , 1, 1-1/2 in.

Check valves (horizontal pattern). Piston and ball

Class 800. Sizes: 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 3/4 , 1, 1-1/2, 2 in

Class 1500. Sizes: 1/2, 3/4 , 1, 1-1/2 in.

Check valves (verticalpattern).

(i) Ball type with bolted cover: types with bolted or union cover: and 2 in.

Class 800. Sizes 1, 1-1/2 and 2 in.

Class 1500. Sizes 1 and 1-1/2 in.

(ii) Ball type with union cover:

Class 800. Sizes: 1/2, 3/4 , 1, 1-1/2, 2 in

Lubricated plug valves.

Class 800. Sizes : 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 3/4 , 1, 1-1/2, 2 in

Class 1500. Sizes: 1/2, 3/4 , 1, 1-1/2 in.

NOTE 1. The sizes represent the nominal pipe sizes of the con-necting ends.

NOTE 2. Attention is drawn to Appendix e which tabulates the information to be supplied by the purchaser on alternatives per- mitted by this standard.

CLASSIFICATION

The numerals in the designations ‘ Class 800 ‘ and ‘ Class 1500 ‘ represent the primary service pressure ratings of the valves in pounds force per square inch as marked with an asterisk in Appendix B.
